The next filter we are going to take a look at is “Ad Run Time” filter. The button to access it is located in the main menu just under the search bar.

The reason why you should be interested in how long ads are running is the correlation between ad profitability and runtime. Ads that are making money to their owners are much more likely to be kept running.

If you take a look at the filter popup, you’ll notice that you can set minimum and maximum days the ad was running. Usually, you’ll be fine by only settings the minimum days number. A value greater than 5-10 should narrow down the search to mostly very successful ads.

By now you probably noticed the checkbox named “Expand search to estimated run time.” Estimated run time equals time in days between first and last recorded impression. It is enabled by default so that the results include ads, which might not have been reported on certain days during their first and last appearance. We advise you to keep it checked.

We’ll now inspect an ad where during its first and last appearance is a day where the ad was not reported to us.

As you can see the following ad was seen on 13TH of August and last time on 21th of August, but not on 17th, 18th and 19th. Despite the missing days, the estimated run time is calculated as if the ad was seen on all days between its first and last appearance. Now you understand what the checkbox “Expand search to estimated run time” does. It treats ad run time timeline as if it has no holes even in cases where it does have them.

As the name suggests the timespan filter selects ads that were seen during a period relative to the current day. This will come useful more in the future as AdEagle ad database matures and expands and you may not want to get older ads in your search results.

Below is an example of usage of “Timespan filter”, where we select “Last week” and this returns us only ads that were seen in the past 7 days, but no older ads are included in the results.

See you on the next one.
